Cinco de Mayo 2019

We’ve got a whole weekend to celebrate this year, and with multiple days available, you may need to know of a couple different options! Check out my favorite potential spots to hang out!

El Meson903 E Dixie Dr, Dayton, OH 45449
If you’ve been to this restaurant, you know that this is one of the most delicious, yet underrated, places that the Dayton area has to offer when it comes to Latin/Mexican food. This year, they’re not celebrating for just one day, they’re making a weekend of it! The party begins Saturday from 4:30pm-11:00pm and continues for the second day on Sunday from 12:00pm-7:00pm.

  • For $5 you can get into the party and partake in the festivities with food from their very own food trucks, dancing, live music, and of course, drinks!
  • For $35 you can purchase their limited VIP patio seats for Saturday or Sunday. This area will give you access to a less crowded area, servers, a great view of the bands and a private bar!

Conveniently, they’ve planned ahead for what could be a bit of a damp weekend and will have tents set up to host this rain or shine event! (It’s as if they’ve done this before, lol). We live down the street, so we just might be making a stop by to check it out ourselves!
*Bonus – El Meson’s event will be benefiting the Pink Ribbon Girls!

Elsa’s Linden Ave., Dayton, Ohio | E. Stroop, Dayton, Ohio | Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio | Far Hills, Dayton, Ohio | Wilmington Pike, Dayton, OH
Everyone knows about the locally famous Bad Juan and other variations of this drink that keep people coming back! I was unable to locate any information of special events they’re holding, but depending on my schedule this weekend – You just might find my husband and I in a booth at Elsa’s on Far Hills with a chicken and cheese quesadilla (if you haven’t had that, you need to try it). Elsa’s is by far my favorite local go-to for Mexican food and good drinks!

Rusty Taco1822 Brown St, Dayton, OH 45409
My husband and I love this place; any time of the year. The amount of different foods you can get in a street taco style soft shell is incredible. I think that personally, if you haven’t had their #5 Brisket Taco, you haven’t lived. Their margaritas are delicious, with a ton of different flavor options to choose from – A Watermelon Mango Margarita coming May 13th, being the mango lover that I am, I can hardly wait! It would be impossible for me to list every taco they have on their menu, so you have to see for yourself on their menu that you can get literally, ANYTHING! Their Brown St location and Beavercreek location are both hoping to have patios open full swing for this weekend, weather permitting, Since their prices are VERY affordable year round; they don’t need specials or discounts to help YOU celebrate this weekend! Stop by and check out the party they’ll have going all weekend!

El Toro Bar & Grill8321 Old Troy Pike, Huber Heights, OH 45424
These guys have a TON of specials going on for the holiday weekend, food, drinks, etc AND I heard on the radio that K99.1FM will be there Sunday early afternoon. Specials include (at all locations): Chicken Chimichanga for $9.95, Burrito Deluxe for $9.95, Jumbo Margarita for $5.95, Tall Domestic Draft Beer for $1.99!

Rip Rap Roadhouse6024 Rip Rap Rd, Dayton, OH 45424
Not your typical place to spend Cinco de Mayo – Yelp! refers to this place as a “raucous biker bar with good food, cocktails and live music,” so if you’re into that sort of thing – they have an awesome Sunday event planned to celebrate the holiday! On Sunday, they’ll be having $3 classic margaritas, $4 specialty margaritas, plenty of food specials and live music on the porch from 3:00pm-7:00pm! I have never been here, but looking at photos, this looks like my kind of place to be for a relaxing weekend lunch or dinner with friends. Check out their website for more information and to take a peek at their menu!

Toxic Brew Co.431 E. Fifth St Dayton, OH 45402
The Oregon District is such an awesome place to hang out and there are a ton of different places to visit – On Sunday, Toxic Brew Co. is the place to be if you’re down there! This event starts at 11:00am – The brewery will have some AMAZING food from Drunken Waffle, Twisted Taco, different beer releases, some returns of classic favorites from the brewery AND piñata prizes – I’m not sure what else you could need to celebrate! Salar Restaurant and Lounge in the Oregon District will ALSO be celebrating, so feel free to bounce between all the different festivities going on down there!

Painting with a Twist8010 McEwen Rd, Dayton, OH 45458
Looking for a little more relaxing way to celebrate this weekend? Head on over to Painting with a Twist for a laid back painting class experience! If you’ve never been here, some branches sell alcohol on site, while others are strictly BYOB, or you don’t have to drink at all, just go and see how artistic you and your friends really are (with a little instruction, of course) – This will be an adults only event! You can purchase your tickets here!
